Travis Perkins signs up for Onboarding App

October 5, 2015

Travis Perkins is the first business to introduce Headlines’ Onboarding App for new starters.

From now, new employees at Travis Perkins’ head office will have a wealth of information at their fingertips through our Onboarding App, from the moment they are appointed – usually a month before their first day.

Our bespoke induction app is the only one of its kind that comes with strategic internal communications and employee engagement support.

With 24/7 access, this one-stop-shop will offer new employees a mix of exciting and strategically selected content that will teach them about the company, creating engagement from the moment they accept their job offer.

A smooth, engaging onboarding process means Travis Perkins employees will be more productive and happier from the outset, with the company reaping the rewards.

The interactive design means employees will be happy to log on in their own time on their Android and iOS mobile devices or laptops.

Onboarding App can include a mix of tailored video or written content, created by Headlines.

Travis Perkins’ bespoke app includes directions to its Northampton head offices, a round-up of the company’s internal publications, information about the company culture, dress code and facilities and an induction checklist.

Natalee Gilbert, HR Assistant – Central Functions, at Travis Perkins, said: “We wanted something that would give new starters greater access to business information and our ways of working, prior to their first day.

“People are at their most enthusiastic prior to joining a new company, so it’s a great time to provide information and start engaging them.

“The Onboarding App will help them settle in quicker and have a greater understanding of how we work.

“We want to extend our ‘family feel’ to information sharing, giving colleagues the autonomy to access information at their leisure.

“In this day and age it’s second nature for individuals to reach for an interactive solution.”

Peter Doherty, CEO at Headlines, said: “It is not rocket science that a well-onboarded employee will be longer serving, better engaged, more productive and happier from the word go.

“We are trying to put our 20 years of employee engagement experience to good use, tailoring onboarding processes for our clients, which will save them money by vastly improving employee retention and boosting productivity.

“This app is a marriage between HR and internal communications – a link which we believe must become far better established.”
