Laughter, team spirit, CSR and recognition were all on the menu at Headlines town hall at which the Cystic Fibrosis Trust was named as our charity of the year.
Former stand-up comedienne Stephanie Davies from Laughology – who spoke at the 2015 CIPR Inside Internal Communication Conference – was our external speaker, giving a talk on humour in the workplace, followed by a workshop on company values.
High-performing colleagues were recognised with senior leadership presenting 12 employees with Headliners Awards within five categories.
Colleagues – who all donned thinking hats for the occasion – took part in an interactive session in which we brainstormed ideas for helping The Cystic Fibrosis Trust during 2016-17.
The jam-packed, twice-yearly town hall at Horwood House in Buckinghamshire saw everyone leaving laptops and work behind and spending the day sharing best practice, hearing about company performance, completing a ‘working together’ workshop and quizzing CEO Peter Doherty as he took the hot seat for an ‘Ask Peter’ session.
Colleagues even got creative, sculpting a model of our business with Play-Doh and Lego, and turning their peers into superheroes as part of ice breakers and workshops.
Head of Video Sara Wilmot filmed the event, editing a video that was shared at the end of the day.
Organiser Alicia Babaee said: “It was great to get everyone away from their desks for the day.
“Creativity, enthusiasm and laughter were flowing and people really got into it, while learning a bit more about our business and where we need to get to.
“We’re now looking forward to planning the next one, which will take place at the end of the year.”
