Premier Inn, the UK’s biggest hotel chain, needed an imaginative new comms channel. In a 2015 IC audit, 68 per cent wanted to connect digitally with the leadership team and 75 per cent wanted more/better tools to connect and share knowledge/experiences with colleagues. Premier Inn approached Headlines to create a publication app for its 19,000 team members.
Headlines pioneered a more innovative, strategic solution. We launched InTouch: a bespoke, one-stop, easy-to-use, cross-platform IC app, with a web version, too. Content is shared instantly through push notifications. It powers two-way conversation through real-time polls and user-generated content.
InTouch has created a step change in Premier Inn’s IC. In June, it was downloaded 3,223 times, 1,111 of which were in in first month and 1,000 of which occurred in May. So far, more than 300 news items have been posted and there have been 1,800+ uploads to the photo wall. Since a comments box has been added to posts, execs have been commenting on employees’ photos, driving engagement. The IC team has seen a 40 per cent reduction in print costs. The app is evolving and Headlines has been asked to complete further projects due to its success.
