Premier Inn’s InTouch is crowned best app in IC

Headlines’ InTouch app for Premier Inn was crowned Best Mobile/App in the industry at the glittering IoIC Awards 2016 ceremony at The Underglobe at Shakespeare’s Globe on Friday night (23 September).

Headlines received four awards of excellence in total for cutting-edge projects. Our IC hub app for Premier Inn received three, in the Best Use of Digital Media – App, Best Use of Digital Media – New Channel, and Innovation – Game Changer categories.

An inspiring feature about an employee’s transgender journey, written for Shell by previous IoIC award-winner Sue Kiddy, was also recognised with an award of excellence in the Best Feature category.

The celebrations kicked off with a drinks reception and viewing of the theatre’s incredible exhibition space, before the three-course dinner and party.

Graham Davidson, Head of Digital at Headlines, said: “We are so proud to have been crowned overall category winner for Best Mobile/App and to have received three awards of excellence from the IoIC for the InTouch app.

“We aim to create pioneering digital IC solutions, and the team works extremely hard to so. For one of our apps to have been recognised so many times is a brilliant achievement.”

Since the award entries were submitted, Premier Inn’s InTouch has evolved, with new functionality being added, making it even better than before.

Peter Doherty, Headlines CEO, said: “This is a fantastic endorsement of Headlines’ pioneering approach to apps as a tool for engagement.

“The big opportunity – and challenge – for IC is to give employees a compelling reason to connect with their workplace via their own device, and even in their own time.

“Simply putting work stuff up there is not enough when you are competing against the likes of Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram. It needs an entirely different approach to participation and collaboration – but the potential benefits are transformational.”

Sue Kiddy, Managing Editor at Headlines, who was crowned Best Writer in 2013 and shortlisted in 2015, and won the Best Feature award in 2014, added: “It was great to celebrate the success of internal comms projects that are helping to make a difference in our clients’ workplaces.”
