What is your favourite thing to read?

The classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl is my favourite book.

Why is it your favourite?

It’s a book from my childhood and the nostalgia really appeals to me. I saw the original movie when I was young before I read the book which helped me to envision the characters and really get into the storyline. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the first Roald Dahl book that I read and it got me into all of his other books.

What drew you in initially?

The chocolate! But seriously, I felt like I could relate to Charlie and his reaction to the bizarre factory tour and the other children’s personalities.

What does it make you think about or feel?

It makes me think about food, which makes me hungry. Actually, I like the moral side of the storyline where the kids are approached by Arthur Slugworth with a bribe, which some of the kids fall for, but Charlie isn’t tempted and he is rewarded for resisting. I like the moral that if you do not give into temptation, you will be rewarded for your restraint.
