Not-so-dry January

Not-so-dry January

When you think of Black Friday, what do you picture? Thousands of people charging a Walmart to save a few dollars on a TV? Camping in the cold to snag a deal?

At Headlines we wanted to do something a little different. We thought that we’d like to give something back, especially to those small business struggling to compete with the might of the high street on Black Friday.

So, we devised a Black Friday competition, where people submitted project ideas and the winner would receive a full day of free design from us. Told you we’d give something back…

After so many amazing submissions we couldn’t pick just one winner, and so we decided on two.

The first belongs to Sarah, who has started up her very own drinks company with a twist: non-alcoholic gin, Sea Arch. A very interesting product which needed an extra marketing push in the new year.

Focusing on the tradition of people taking an alcoholic break after an indulgent Christmas, we came up with the idea of promoting a ‘Not-so-dry January’ – reminding consumers that there’s no need to give up your favourite gin & tonic combo after a busy week. You can still enjoy a little ‘me time’ and not break your alcohol ban.

To further this message, we extended the marketing concept into a competition. Where viewers could submit their favourite gin cocktail recipes for the chance to win their very own free bottle of Sea Arch – what’s not to love?

We enjoyed the challenge of creating concepts around such a unique product and we’re sure they’ll do very well in the future…

Stay tuned for our next blog about winner number two!
