Lockdown loves: Les Mills Bodybalance

The lockdown experience has been challenging for all of us and we have found solace and escape in a variety of ways. We asked the team at Headlines to share the things that made their lockdowns more bearable and made them smile in 2020.

Why do you like it? What does it mean to you?

I usually do the Bodybalance workouts three times a week at my local gym and absolutely love the routines, music and camaraderie. During lockdown this hasn't been possible, obviously, so I've been doing them online from home.

What are your favourite aspects of Les Mills Bodybalance workouts?

The online classes are recorded, rather than live, so you can do them whenever it suits you once you've signed up (you can do a month's free trial before committing *no I'm not being paid to promote this, I just love it!). There are lots of different routines of different lengths, too, and the instructors offer different levels of activity depending on individuals' fitness and flexibility, so it's been easy to find something suitable and fit it into my day.

How did it help you get through lockdown?

Bodybalance is a mix of tai chi, Pilates and yoga so it's calming as well as energising and has been good for my mind, my core strength and my fitness. Doing routines that I already know well from the gym classes have helped life feel a bit more normal. Some of the classes are filmed with amazing scenery too, and I could almost imagine myself beside the ocean or mountains when we weren't allowed to go far from our front doors. And of course, staying active helps fight the dreaded 'Covid cushion' – I have enough padding already!

In one sentence, why is it your lockdown love?

Online Bodybalance classes are my way of treating my mind and body to a dose of 'normal' in these crazy times.
